Questions, answered straight.
The things trainers ask before trusting a new tool with their records. If yours is missing, hello@trainote.com reaches a human.
What is Trainote, in one sentence?
Trainote is a professional record system for dog trainers: you log structured sessions (skills, criteria, reps, incidents), and client reports, progress charts, and your liability trail are generated automatically from that one log.
Who is it for?
Certified professional trainers first: solo obedience trainers, behavior consultants, and small facilities with two to eight trainers. If your work involves real documentation (session records, behavior cases, group class rosters, waivers), Trainote is built for your desk and your field bag.
When does it launch?
Public launch is October 2026 at the APDT Annual Conference in Las Vegas. Early access opens before that, and early-access trainers get founding pricing locked for the life of their account.
Does it work offline, in a park, with one hand?
Yes, and this is the hill we build on. Logging is voice-first and offline-first: hold the button, speak the session, and it transcribes and structures itself locally, syncing when you have signal again. If logging a session takes longer than about a minute, we consider that a bug.
What does the owner app cost my clients?
Nothing, ever. Owners get session reports pushed to their phone, downloadable photos and videos, progress charts, and one-tap homework logging, all free. Their homework logs feed your compliance view, which is worth far more to your business than an app fee would be to ours.
Can I switch from Heeldash, DogBizPro, Gingr, or spreadsheets?
Yes. Import tools and white-glove migration are part of the launch plan, because we know the biggest cost of switching is your history. And the door swings both ways: your data is fully exportable from Trainote every day you use it.
Who owns my records and my clients’ data?
You do. Full stop. You can export everything in usable formats at any time, we never sell or share client data, and records are retained after a client departs so your liability trail stays intact. The details live on our Security & Trust page.
Does Trainote take a cut of my payments?
No, and this is permanent policy, not a launch promo. Bring your own payment processor. Platforms that skim card volume are charging you a growth tax; we charge flat software pricing and nothing else.
Is Trainote aligned with a particular training methodology?
The data structures are method-neutral: criteria, reps, success rates, and ABC incident records describe what happened without prescribing philosophy. Our own language and imagery follow the professional standards of the certified training community, so you will see cues and reinforcement, and you will never see aversive equipment on our surfaces.
Does it handle group classes and multiple trainers?
Yes. Rosters with per-dog attendance, curriculum position for every enrollee, package balances, staff-wide safety flags, and two kinds of notes: team-shared for continuity, trainer-private for candor. Any trainer can pick up any dog and know the whole story.
What about board and train?
Multi-day programs with daily care records are on the roadmap and shaped by design-partner demand. If board and train is your core business, join early access and say so; scope decisions like this one are exactly what the founding cohort steers.
How do I get in?
Join the early access list from any page on this site. If you want to go deeper, we are recruiting a founding cohort of design partners who use Trainote free during the build and keep founding pricing for life.
Still deciding? Watch it hold a real case.
